Helpful information about cremation in Nevada
Nevada state law requires that a death certificate be filed with the local registrar within three days of the date or discovery of the death. (Nevada Revised Statutes § 440.490.) Typically, the mortuary, cremation organization, or other person in charge of the deceased person’s remains will prepare and file the death certificate.
If you need copies of the death certificate after the fact, visit Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. On the DHHS website you can download a mail-in order form or find a link to order death certificates online.
