Think of what a family must go through when a death occurs: arrangements with funeral homes, cemetery sales people, and lengthy ceremonies. Is it all necessary?
No. For years many people have preferred the simplicity and dignity of cremation. All arrangements are made with a licensed staff member from the Cremation Society of Virginia, without the involvement of a funeral home. We do everything, including: transport from place of death, shelter remains temporarily, obtain necessary authorizations and certificates and provide a selection of cremation containers.
Your first step is to register with the society. Registered members are entitled to price reductions from the fees charged to non-members. An additional advantage to joining the Society is that your wishes are recorded and you are assured that your wishes will be carried out. The peace of mind you receive from having your final arrangements completed in a dignified, sensible manner will be surpassed only by the gift of love you give your family by relieving them of this burden. A single, one-time payment is all that is necessary for membership. Return the necessary forms with payment and you have arranged for a peace of mind that results from pre-planning.
Another feature offered by the Cremation Society is our Travel Protection. For a single payment your family will never have to pay
additional charges should death occur anywhere in the continental United States. These charges are over and above the Simple Cremation
fee and are not refundable. With Travel Protection in place, should death occur away from home, the Cremation Society of Virginia will arrange
for cremation at the place of death and will pay for all charges incurred without additional billing to your family or estate.
You will receive an Identification Card which lists a single phone number that should be called when death occurs regardless of place of death.
Members are encouraged to give this number and copies of final arrangements to family, an attorney or friend. It makes sense to plan ahead and make these
arrangements without the pressure that transpires after death occurs.
